Italian Navy ship Amerigo Vespucci arrives in New York for U.S. 250th‑anniversary naval parade

The Italian Navy school ship Amerigo Vespucci, after a stop in Baltimore for SAIL250 Maryland, sailed to New York waters to take part in the Sail4th250 International Naval Review on July 4. The event marks the United States’ 250th anniversary of independence and will feature more than fifty tall ships and naval vessels cruising the Hudson River past the Statue of Liberty.

Following the parade, the vessel will berth at Pier 86 beside the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum until July 8, hosting a series of diplomatic and promotional activities. On board will be senior Italian officials, including Defence Minister Guido Crosetto’s delegate Matteo Perego, Sport Minister Andrea Abodi, Admiral Giuseppe Berutti Bergotto, Carabinieri chief Salvatore Luongo, Ambassador Marco Peronaci, and representatives of Italian Trade Agency, Vinitaly and the America’s Cup Partnership. Events will showcase Italian excellence, present the upcoming Vinitaly edition and display the America’s Cup trophy.

The visit is the ninth to New York since the ship’s first arrival in 1933 and is part of a world‑tour that began in Genoa on 9 May 2026, with future stops planned in Boston, Canadian ports and later Italian cities.
