Italian Navy training ship Palinuro arrives in Koper
The Italian Navy's training ship, Palinuro, has arrived at the Port of Koper, Slovenia. The vessel, a recognized symbol of Italian maritime identity, is scheduled to remain anchored in the port until Friday, October 9.
As part of its educational program, the ship serves as a platform for training naval cadets. The Palinuro has a long history, having been launched in 1934 and acquired by the Italian Navy in 1950. Over its decades of service, it has traveled more than 300,000 nautical miles and visited 164 different ports.
The visit is intended to demonstrate the strong friendship and cooperation between Italy and Slovenia. During its stay, the crew, led by Captain Francesco Carriero, will participate in various institutional and protocol activities, including meetings with the Italian Ambassador to Slovenia, Giuseppe Cavagne, and high-ranking officials from the Slovenian Armed Forces.
