Italian nutrition advice highlights summer infusions and magnesium‑rich foods

As temperatures rise, Italians are turning to natural cold infusions as a lighter alternative to sugary beverages. Experts recommend bases such as hibiscus (karkadè) and citrus, complemented by red fruits, apple, mint, ginger or mild spices to create refreshing, low‑sugar drinks that stay aromatic when chilled.

Nutritionists also stress the importance of magnesium during summer, when sweat can increase fatigue and muscle cramping. Foods high in magnesium include pumpkin seeds, almonds and other nuts, legumes such as chickpeas and lentils, and leafy greens like spinach. Recommended daily intakes are about 400 mg for adult men and 310 mg for adult women, which can be met through a varied diet without resorting to supplements.
