Italian officials call for tougher security measures after recent violence

Regional councilor Pierpaolo Borroni urged an integrated security plan for Civitanova, proposing a mobile police station in high‑risk areas, permanent coordination tables among the prefecture, police, municipality and social services, a ban on strong alcohol and energy drinks in vending machines, and upgraded video‑surveillance with intelligent software. He also suggested deploying private security guards to support local police during peak nightlife periods.

Deputy Giulio Centenaro, speaking after a series of severe violent incidents in Padova, called for stricter criminal legislation, faster expulsion procedures and the remigration of foreign nationals who commit crimes. He emphasized the need for harsher penalties and more effective tools for law‑enforcement to counter increasingly organized violence.
