Italian officials clean up waste in Pomezia’s Santa Palomba and Marinello beach

Activists from the Italia dei Diritti De Pierro movement reported extensive illegal dumping, micro‑crime and prostitution in the Santa Palomba district of Pomezia, Lazio. They said promised municipal inspections and surveillance cameras have not been installed, and that abandoned waste near the freight railway poses environmental and health hazards.

The Metropolitan City of Messina announced the completion of a large‑scale cleanup at the Marinello natural reserve near Patti, Sicily. Workers removed tyres, plastic, metal fragments and other debris left by recent storms, and restored the flashing buoys that mark the protected water area. Mayor Federico Basile said the actions improve safety and protect the fragile coastal ecosystem.
