Italian officials defend economic growth and deficit reduction
Italian government officials have defended the nation's economic trajectory following recent data from Istat. Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti stated that Italy remains on track to exit the EU infringement procedure by next year, noting that the government's fiscal management aligns with parliamentary approvals.
Giorgetti highlighted that the OECD has recognized Italy's growth forecasts at 0.9%, rather than the 0.5% previously suggested. He also urged that public debt figures be adjusted to exclude cash installments related to the Superbonus program.
In New York, Vice Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani reported significant economic improvements, claiming the deficit has been reduced from 8.1% to 3.1%. Tajani also cited the creation of 1.2 million jobs and a decrease in tax pressure as evidence of the government's successful economic management despite international challenges.
