Italian officials mourn worker death and address Terni environmental monitoring

In Pescara, local officials and Ambiente Spa have expressed condolences following the death of Angelo Morelli, an employee who passed away while commuting to work. Mayor Carlo Masci and regional environmental officials noted Morelli’s 26-year tenure with the company, describing him as a dedicated worker and a valued member of the community.

In Terni, a technical meeting was held to discuss the environmental situation in the Prisciano district. The meeting, convened by regional environmental assessor Thomas De Luca, included representatives from Arvedi-Ast, local government, Arpa Umbria, labor unions, and the Prisciano Committee.

The discussion focused on monitoring efforts to reduce environmental impact, specifically regarding a new slag ramp that began hot commissioning on September 1 and is expected to be operational by October 1. Future sessions aim to present data on how this new system affects dust and nickel emissions. The initiative is part of a broader program to decarbonize the Terni industrial hub while balancing industrial development with public health and environmental protection.
