Italian olive oil sector focuses on brand strength and professional training

The Lametia DOP Extra Virgin Olive Oil Protection Consortium is calling on producers, millers, and packers to aggregate their products to strengthen the denomination's market presence. By moving away from bulk sales and focusing on certified, packaged products, the Consortium aims to increase brand recognition, ensure traceability through numbered seals, and retain more value within the local supply chain.

In a related development for the Italian agrifood sector, a new 70-hour professional Master's program titled ‘Science and Culture of Extra Virgin Olive Oil’ has been announced. Promoted by IP Formazione & Consulenza in collaboration with Isfoa and the Puglia Region, the course focuses on quality expertise, sensory analysis, and traceability. The program is designed to help professionals meet the requirements for the national register of olive oil technicians and covers topics ranging from agronomic techniques to international marketing strategies.
