Italian opera and lyric art institutions announce new seasons

Several Italian cultural institutions have announced their upcoming performance seasons.

Teatro Rendano in Cosenza has unveiled its 2026-27 program, which features a unified schedule of opera, prose, and dance. Artistic director Chiara Giordano highlighted a trilogy of works based on Beaumarchais’s Figaro, including Rossini’s ‘Il Barbiere di Siviglia’, Mozart’s ‘Le Nozze di Figaro’, and Milhaud’s ‘La Mère coupable’. The latter production is expected to integrate advanced technology, including AI, with dance and visual arts. The theater maintains ongoing collaborations with L’Altro Teatro and the University of Calabria.

In Osimo, the Accademia d’Arte Lirica has announced its new concert season titled ‘Se la musica è nutrimento dell’amore’, inspired by William Shakespeare. The schedule at Teatro La Nuova Fenice includes a Christmas concert in December, a Romanticism-themed event in January, and celebrations for the 200th anniversary of Beethoven’s death in March. The season also features Mozart performances and a concert in June dedicated to scholarship donors, showcasing young international soloists.
