Italian opera houses stage new Giuseppe Verdi productions

Major Italian opera houses are presenting new productions of works by Giuseppe Verdi. The Teatro dell’Opera di Roma is staging Falstaff, directed by Tatjana Gürbaca with musical direction by Michele Mariotti. The production, which runs until November 1, features mezzo-soprano Violeta Urmana in the role of Quickly.

In Bari, the Fondazione Teatro Petruzzelli has added Il trovatore to its Opera and Ballet Season. Directed by Davide Livermore, the production features a musical direction by Vincenzo Milletarì and a performance schedule throughout late October. The theater will also host a musical conversation regarding the opera on October 16.
