Italian orchestras launch seasons honoring Beethoven
Italian musical institutions are launching seasons dedicated to celebrating the 200th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven's death.
La Filarmonica della Scala will inaugurate its season on January 25, featuring all nine of Beethoven's famous overtures. The season will also mark the debut of Myung-Whung Chung as the musical director of Teatro alla Scala. Additionally, the orchestra will participate in a special event on November 29, performing the live soundtrack to Federico Fellini's '8½', with a score reconstructed by Timothy Brock.
In Prato, the Camerata Strumentale is presenting a season titled 'Dal cuore ai cuori' (From the heart to the hearts). The program includes eight performances and a preview focused on Beethoven's most popular symphonies, including the Pastoral and the Seventh. The initiative aims to engage a broader and more diverse audience, particularly younger generations, through the universal language of classical music.
