Italian Order of Journalists launches reliability campaign

The National Council of the Order of Journalists in Italy has launched an institutional communication campaign titled ‘Hai il diritto di saperlo’ (You have the right to know). Developed in collaboration with the agency Comin & Partners, the initiative aims to re-center the role of journalists as guardians of method, truth, and pluralism in public debate.

The campaign focuses on the citizens' right to access factual information, arguing that withholding true news of public interest deprives people of the ability to make informed choices. Key themes include using ethics to combat fake news and hate speech, the relationship between artificial intelligence and fact-checking, and the protection of pluralism.

Carlo Bartoli, president of the National Council, stated that the project seeks to leverage the credibility of the profession, asserting that valuing journalism is a vital investment for the future of democracy.
