Italian osteopaths can apply for official registration starting 14 Sept 2026

The Federazione nazionale degli Ordini delle professioni sanitarie tecniche, della riabilitazione e della prevenzione (Fno Tsrm e Pstrp) announced that, from 14 September 2026, osteopaths in Italy will be able to submit applications to the special, limited‑capacity registers (Elenchi speciali a esaurimento) of the Order of technical health professions. The decision, approved by the federation’s national council on 28 July, implements the decree published in the Official Gazette (DPCM 25 March 2026) which establishes title equivalence and completes the recognition process that began with law 3/2018.

The federation will shortly publish detailed procedural guidelines on its national portal and on the websites of the 59 territorial orders. Provincial and inter‑provincial order boards will evaluate each application according to the decree’s criteria. President Diego Catania said the opening of the special registers “closes a long path, granting full recognition of osteopathy within the National Health Service and ensuring the same protections and responsibilities as other health professions.” The measure is expected to formalise the status of thousands of practicing osteopaths, improving professional safeguards for patients and integration with other health‑care providers.
