Italian Paralympic Committee meets Abruzzo president to boost regional para‑sport
On 21 July in L’Aquila, the President of the Italian Paralympic Committee (CIP), Marco Giunio De Sanctis, met with Abruzzo Region President Marco Marsilio at Palazzo Silone. The discussion, also attended by CIP Abruzzo President Mauro Sciulli and CIP Secretary‑General Simone Rasetti, focused on strengthening policies that support paralympic sport in the region. Participants highlighted the need to back local clubs, expand grassroots activity, promote athlete recruitment and improve sport facilities. De Sanctis stressed that “if we do not support base activity, we cannot grow nor bring more people with disabilities into sport,” while Marsilio emphasized the social value of paralympic sport for inclusion and full citizenship. The meeting is part of a national tour aimed at creating coordinated, synergistic actions between regional authorities and the CIP to expand opportunities for athletes with disabilities.
