Italian Parliament probes public funding of Exor Ems plant relocation to Romania

Deputy Debora Serracchiani and colleague Vinicio Peluffo tabled a parliamentary interrogation to the Ministers of Enterprises and Economy and Finance, demanding verification of public funds used in 2024 for Exor Ems’s foreign subsidiary. They allege the funding may have facilitated the transfer of about 60 % of the company’s production from the Buja plant in Udine to Romania, leaving the Italian site with marginal volumes and prompting the dismissal of 24 workers.

The inquiry stresses that the electronic‑components sector for the Internet of Things is a strategic national industry and asks whether the resources earmarked for internationalisation and value‑chain shortening were instead employed to deindustrialise the Friulian facility, contravening rules against off‑shoring domestic employment levels.
