Italian parties lead social media engagement ahead of 2027 election

A report by Arcadia for Italpress examined the key performance indicators of Italian political parties on four major platforms – Facebook, Instagram, X and TikTok – over the past twelve months as the 2027 national election approaches. On Facebook, the pages of Futuro Nazionale and Fratelli d’Italia recorded the highest follower engagement, while the Movimento 5 Stelle showed strong growth in both new followers and total interactions. Forza Italia outperformed the Partito Democratico on Facebook. Instagram rankings were led by Futuro Nazionale, followed by the Movimento 5 Stelle and Lega. TikTok activity was strongest for Azione, Lega and Futuro Nazionale. In terms of video‑view counts, Lega, Fratelli d’Italia and Italia Viva topped the list. Activity on X remained low, with several parties, including the Democratic Party, not having posted for over a year. Across platforms, photos and reels were the most used content formats.
