Italian police arrest man for supplying weapons to mafia clan
Italian State Police, coordinated by the Bari District Anti-Mafia Directorate (DDA), have arrested 57-year-old Luigi Ferro in San Marco in Lamis. Ferro is accused of receiving stolen goods and possessing war weapons to support the Lombardi-La Torre-Ricucci mafia clan, a group known for violent armored vehicle robberies in the Foggia region.
The arrest follows an investigation into an arsenal discovered in San Severo in October 2025. Authorities believe Ferro acted as a co-organizer for the logistics of these weapons, which included a Kalashnikov assault rifle with modified rapid-reload magazines, an altered Beretta shotgun, ballistic vests, and nearly 200 rounds of ammunition. The equipment was reportedly tested for its ability to penetrate armored vehicle plating to facilitate future robberies intended to fund the criminal organization.
