Italian police arrest repeat thief and recover 45‑year‑old stolen motorbike

Carabinieri in Reggio Emilia stopped a 53‑year‑old man during a routine traffic check after discovering he was subject to an outstanding prison order for multiple theft and home‑invasion convictions. He had failed to request alternative measures, was declared absconding, and was taken to the Reggio Emilia prison to serve the remaining 2 years 2 months of his sentence and pay a €377 fine.

In a separate operation in Rovigo, the same police force seized a 1981‑stolen Ciao motorbike during a traffic stop of a 68‑year‑old rider lacking a licence and insurance. Database checks confirmed the vehicle was stolen 45 years earlier, leading to the rider being charged with receiving stolen goods while the motorbike is set to be returned to its rightful owner.
