Italy reports a series of violent assaults and arrests

In Recanati, a 22‑year‑old student was surrounded by three men who attempted to snatch her bag; she escaped unharmed and the Carabinieri identified an 18‑year‑old resident of Loreto who has been charged with attempted robbery, while investigations continue for the other two assailants.

In Catania, police arrested a 36‑year‑old foreign student after he threatened a security guard with a vehicle when the guard refused to deliver a food order to his university residence. He was charged with resisting public officials, threats and false identity statements.

In Jesi, a 40‑year‑old man of extra‑community origin, previously placed under an alternative detention measure, was taken into custody after repeatedly refusing an alcohol test, testing positive for drug use and breaching court‑imposed conditions; he will serve the remainder of his sentence in a correctional facility.

In Sarezzo, near Brescia, two men – a 22‑year‑old Algerian and a 28‑year‑old Moroccan – were detained on suspicion of assault after a local citizen reported being tied, threatened with a knife and beaten in a forested area near a cycling‑pedestrian path. Both were placed in the Brescia detention house pending further investigation.
