Italian police arrest thieves in Rome luxury shop and Genoa senior‑citizen fraud

In Rome, police intercepted a 31‑year‑old Cuban man who had stolen luxury goods worth about €4,000 from a high‑end boutique in the historic centre. The merchandise was recovered and the suspect was arrested for aggravated theft.

In Genoa, a man posing as a police officer swindled an 80‑year‑old couple out of €3,100 and gold jewellery. He was caught by the mobile squad after changing clothes in the street and attempting to flee the building where the fraud took place. The stolen cash and jewellery were recovered and returned to the victims, and the suspect was placed in custody for robbery in an apartment.

Both incidents were part of broader police actions targeting theft and fraud against shoppers and seniors in Italian cities.
