Italian police arrest two men of North African origin for domestic violence

In Andria, police from the mobile squad of the Questura arrested a 30‑year‑old man of North African origin on multiple charges, including aggravated sexual violence, family maltreatment, aggravated personal injury and property damage. The victim, his partner, reported that he threatened her life, physically assaulted her, and forced her into non‑consensual sexual acts. She called emergency services and has been placed in a protected shelter.

In Milan, the State Police’s rapid response unit detained a 17‑year‑old Libyan citizen after a report of family maltreatment, aggravated threats with a knife and damage to the dwelling. Two Libyan women living in the apartment described being threatened and the apartment being ransacked. Officers secured the scene, arrested the teenager and placed him in custody at the local detention centre.

Both incidents illustrate intensified police efforts to intervene in domestic abuse cases and enforce legal protections for victims.
