Abderrahim Fakir case: new body‑cam frame shows neck wound during Bologna police intervention

New footage extracted from a police body‑cam during the July 2026 intervention in Bologna’s Pilastro district shows a small blood stain on the nape of 42‑year‑old Abderrahim Fakir. The frame captures an officer’s hand under Fakir’s head while he tries to free himself, and a subsequent moment in which Fakir appears to bite a police officer’s leg.

Police lawyer Gabriele Bordoni argues the wound was self‑inflicted as Fakir slid on the asphalt, causing two superficial cuts that explain the blood. In contrast, family lawyer Fabio Anselmo, whose request to obtain the video was initially denied, maintains that the footage proves police‑induced injuries and has called for an investigation into the illegal dissemination of the body‑cam material. The controversy over the cause of the blood and the handling of the video continues to fuel public scrutiny of the police operation that led to Fakir’s death.
