Italian Police Chief emphasizes role as protector of rights and youth engagement

Vittorio Pisani, the Chief of the Italian State Police and Director General of Public Security, stated that law enforcement is not the adversary of protesters or citizens. Instead, he emphasized that the police are responsible for guaranteeing the exercise of fundamental rights and freedoms.

To engage younger generations, Pisani highlighted several initiatives, including increased presence in schools through legality programs covering road safety, cybersecurity, and the dangers of drugs and alcohol. Additionally, the police have expanded their presence in universities by offering master's degrees in public security and training laboratories in forensic sciences.

Pisani expressed that serving as a police officer is an honor dedicated to defending the Republic and the rule of law, noting the historical importance of remembering victims of organized crime and terrorism.
