Italian law enforcement conducts widespread crackdown on crime
Law enforcement agencies across Italy have conducted a series of widespread operations targeting drug trafficking, illegal weapons, and public order violations. In Rome, a major crackdown in the Quarticciolo neighborhood resulted in 24 arrests related to drug dealing. In Catania, police dismantled a sophisticated crack-room protected by high-tech surveillance. Other significant drug seizures included the discovery of two large marijuana plantations in Campobasso, estimated to have a potential illicit value of 800,000 euros, and the seizure of heroin, marijuana, and hashish alongside military-grade ammunition in Palagonia.
Authorities also focused on domestic safety and social order. In several instances, police intervened in cases of domestic violence, including the removal of a man from his home via electronic monitoring after assaulting his grandmother. In the Vibonese region, Carabinieri executed multiple judicial orders involving arrests and house arrest.
Additional enforcement efforts targeted road safety and local regulations. In Pisa, multiple drivers were caught under the influence of alcohol or drugs, while in Rome's Trastevere district, local police issued over 45,000 euros in fines for illegal occupation of public space and hygiene violations. In the Rimini province, hunting season inspections led to numerous sanctions and the seizure of illegal equipment and wildlife.
