Italian police confiscate over 30 kg of hashish in highway bust
On the A2 "Autostrada del Mediterraneo" between the Petina and Polla interchanges, State Police stopped a vehicle and discovered 30 concealed packages of hashish weighing about 33.4 kg. The drugs were seized, valued at roughly €430,000, and the driver was arrested for possession with intent to traffic.
During the same weekend, Carabinieri checks in the Senigallia area led to five people being charged. Officers confiscated a kitchen knife, a machete, a balaclava and about 5 g of hashish from passengers, and issued denouncements for driving without a licence or insurance, driving under the influence, and illegal possession of weapons. One driver tested positive for cannabinoids. The operations illustrate a broader police crackdown on drugs and illegal weapons in central Italy.
