Italian police crack down on drug trafficking and illegal shuttles in Campania
Carabinieri operations in the Campania region resulted in multiple arrests and large drug seizures. In the Flegrean area, police inspected 131 vehicles, identified 269 people and issued 68 traffic violations, seizing roughly €47,000 in fines. The raids uncovered illegal beach shuttles used by non‑EU nationals to transport fellow migrants for low‑pay work and to sell counterfeit goods. During the same operation, a 47‑year‑old was arrested for possession of 10 g of cocaine and €130 in cash, while another suspect was detained after a search found 125 g of marijuana, 135 g of hashish, a drug‑contaminated knife and €2,235 in cash.
In a separate early‑morning raid in Pianura, Carabinieri detained a 42‑year‑old man and his 73‑year‑old father after discovering 5.4 g of cocaine, 7.8 g of crack, 26 doses of cocaine and three pieces of hashish in one flat, and a stash of 33 hashish blocks weighing about 3 kg, 300 g of additional drug and €5,400 in cash in the adjoining apartment. Both men were placed in custody on drug‑trafficking charges.
