Italian police crack down on illegal beach rentals and counterfeit goods on the coast
Local authorities in Italy carried out coordinated raids on two popular seaside locations to stop illegal commercial activity. In Castellammare di Stabia, the municipal police, supported by Carabinieri and the Coast Guard, seized around 150 beach chairs, loungers and umbrellas being rented without permission and imposed administrative fines exceeding €10,000 on a 45‑year‑old operator, who was also charged.
In Jesolo, an early‑morning operation by the local police and Carabinieri seized counterfeit clothing and accessories bearing luxury brand logos from roughly 30 vendors on the beach. The seized items were placed under criminal seizure as part of a broader program to protect tourists, legitimate businesses and public safety on Italy’s tourist coastlines.
