Rome police execute first rapid eviction under new property laws

Italian police have executed the first property release under the new Article 321-bis of the Code of Criminal Procedure, a measure designed to provide faster protection for property owners against illegal occupations.

In Rome's Corviale district, the XI San Paolo District of the State Police evicted two individuals with prior drug-related offenses from an apartment. The legal owner, who had been forced to seek alternative hotel accommodation due to the occupation, was able to return to their home following the intervention. Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi described the action as a “timely and firm response from the State.”

In a separate operation in the Appia Pignatelli area, Carabinieri evicted nine Romanian nationals from a rural property. While the Corviale case utilized the new emergency procedures introduced by the government's security decree, the Appia Pignatelli intervention involved charges of building invasion.
