Italian police fine drivers for licence and insurance violations
In Suzzara, Lombardy, Carabinieri stopped a 26‑year‑old woman from San Benedetto Po who fled an inspection checkpoint. She was later found parked at the local hospital driving without ever having obtained a licence and with 16 g of marijuana in her vehicle. She faces traffic violations totalling about €7,000.
In Brugherio, another Carabinieri patrol discovered a 30‑year‑old woman driving a Smart car with an insurance policy that had expired six years earlier and a vehicle inspection overdue by five years. She was fined €2,078, and the vehicle was seized and placed under administrative arrest.
Both cases illustrate intensified road‑safety checks by Italian authorities aimed at curbing illegal driving and reinforcing public security.
