Italian police launch July night patrols in Recanati and Colosseum crackdown

In the Marche town of Recanati, the local police command has organized twelve evening shifts for July, patrolling from 17:00 to 23:00 each night. The operation targets drug dealing, vandalism, illegal weapons and conducts road‑safety checks, and is coordinated with the Carabinieri stationed in the city.

In Rome, a minister‑ordered security blitz around the Colosseum and Via dei Fori Imperiali identified more than 350 individuals, mostly of non‑EU origin. Ten people were arrested and nine were charged with offenses that include possession of knives, robbery, drug possession and illegal tourist‑guide activity. Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi said, “There is no space for impunity and free zones in Italy.” The action follows an earlier assault on local police and will be repeated in the coming days.
