Modena police arrest man for crack dealing; court issues direct trial
On July 9, police officers from the Modena local command conducted a targeted patrol around the railway station area after receiving several resident reports. The officers observed a transaction in which a young man bought a dose of crack from a suspect who extracted the package directly from his mouth. Both the buyer and the alleged dealer were detained. The man was charged with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking and with an immigration law violation. The seized crack dose and the money used for the purchase were confiscated.
The following morning, a judge confirmed the arrest and imposed a signing‑obligation precautionary measure with the judicial police. The buyer was reported to the prefecture for possession of a substance intended for personal use. During the same operation, two other individuals with prior records were found with small amounts of drugs for personal consumption and were administratively reported.
