Italian police seize explosives in Rome and stolen motorcycles in Velletri

Police in Rome’s Aurelio district discovered a hidden cache of more than 12 kilograms of illegal explosives in a cellar, confiscating 25 batches of pyrotechnic devices and arresting a 57‑year‑old Georgian man on charges of illegal possession and assault. The operation, coordinated with the Guardia di Finanza and local police, also resulted in the seizure of a weapons‑related knife and the questioning of a shop owner for food‑safety violations.

In a separate night raid in Velletri, Carabinieri uncovered a depot used for storing and preparing stolen motorcycles for export. Two Moroccan men were arrested after a rider’s GPS tracker led authorities to the site. Officers seized stolen motorcycle parts, over 100 electronic devices believed to be stolen, and €4,000 in cash. The stolen goods were packed for shipment to Morocco.

Both actions are part of broader efforts by Italian law‑enforcement agencies to combat organized theft, illegal trafficking of explosives, and other forms of micro‑criminality.
