Italian police seize illegal waste sites in Campania, fine owners €28,000

In Villa Literno, Campania, police from the Caserta precinct inspected a 140‑square‑metre mechanical workshop on 16 June 2026 and found it operating without the required environmental permits. Hazardous and non‑hazardous waste from mechatronics activities was stored mixed together without classification. The workshop owner was referred to the judiciary for a waste‑management offence, the premises, equipment and a vehicle under repair were seized, and two administrative violation notices totaling €27,893 were issued.

Separately, in Pomigliano d’Arco, municipal police used photo‑traps and city‑wide video surveillance to identify four suspects – three adults and a 16‑year‑old – who dumped furniture, demolition debris and other waste in front of the Buonpensiero 2 school on 29 May. The perpetrators left their vehicles nearby, enabling investigators to trace licence plates. The three adults have been charged with illegal waste dumping, while procedures have been opened for the minor. Local officials said the incident underscores ongoing efforts to strengthen surveillance and penalties for environmental offences.
