Italian police seize illegal waste trucks and storage sites in Lombardy

The Carabinieri Forestali in the province of Bergamo seized a truck that was transporting a large quantity of special ferrous waste without the required Waste Identification Form and operated by a company not listed in the National Register of Environmental Managers. The driver, a 35‑year‑old non‑EU citizen, and a 30‑year‑old Italian passenger were detained and reported to the prosecutor; the driver’s licence was also revoked.

In Isorella, Brescia, the same police force seized an agricultural hall of more than 1,000 m² that had been converted into an illegal storage centre holding over 3,000 m³ of special and hazardous waste, including used tires, metal parts, electronic waste, an abandoned vehicle and motorcycles. Eight people loading the waste were caught, among them a foreign national with an expired residence permit. The owner, a Ghanaian citizen residing in Brescia, was placed under investigation and released pending further legal action.
