Italian police suspend 14 licences and issue 140 fines on Amalfi Coast

The Italian State Police’s road patrol unit continued its seasonal presence on State Road 163, the “Amalfi Coast” highway, between Positano and Vietri sul Mare during the peak summer period.

In the last two weeks of July, officers identified 423 drivers, inspected 340 vehicles, recorded 140 traffic violations and withdrew 14 driving licences, with particular focus on motorcyclists for speeding and unsafe riding. The checks aim to prevent dangerous driving that could cause accidents and traffic paralysis on the narrow, winding coastal road. The operation will continue throughout the summer to protect residents and tourists.
