Italian police unions organize conferences on welfare and road safety
Two separate conferences organized by Italian police unions are scheduled to address critical issues facing law enforcement personnel and public safety.
In Florence, the SILP CGIL, in collaboration with the Società della Salute di Firenze, will host a conference on October 27 focused on the health, prevention, and well-being of State Police personnel. The event aims to examine the impact of work-related stress and gambling addiction on officers, seeking to identify workplace prevention tools and social support mechanisms.
In Modena, the Siulp will hold a national conference on October 31 regarding road safety. The union intends to highlight severe staffing shortages within the provincial road police, noting that only 14 additional agents were assigned to the Modena province between February 2022 and January 2026. The meeting will also address the economic and social costs of traffic accidents, future mobility, and updates to the highway code.
