Italian political parties outline strategies for 2027 elections

In preparation for the 2027 Italian elections, the Futuro Nazionale party, led by former general Roberto Vannacci, has released a preliminary ten-year ideological and programmatic base titled ‘B. I. P.’ The platform focuses on reducing tax pressure, particularly the tax wedge, and implementing ‘generative shock’ measures to combat declining birth rates. Proposed incentives include a ‘family quotient’ for progressive taxation and ‘blue quotas’ to reserve public sector positions for parents of large families. Additionally, the party proposes allowing retirement after 41 years of contributions.

Meanwhile, Forza Italia is experiencing internal tensions regarding candidate selection and leadership. Following the death of Silvio Berlusconi, party members have noted a lack of centralized decision-making. While Antonio Tajani serves as Secretary, Vice Premier, and Foreign Minister, his moderate and mediatory style has drawn criticism from various party figures, including Stefania Craxi and Paolo Zangrillo, who suggest he struggles to maintain control over regional coordinators compared to the previous leadership.
