Italy political landscape shifts as polls show rising competition

Recent political polling in Italy shows a shifting landscape ahead of the 2027 elections. According to Swg and Only Numbers data, Fratelli d'Italia remains the leading party with approximately 26-27% of the vote. The Partito Democratico (Pd) is seeing growth, holding around 20.7-22.9%, while the Movimento 5 Stelle (M5S) maintains a position around 12%. Notably, Roberto Vannacci's Futuro Nazionale party is rising, polling between 7.4% and 7.9%. Some analysts suggest the center-left currently holds a slight advantage over the center-right, though the center-right may require Vannacci's support to secure a victory.

In other news, the Italian government has announced the abolition of the car tax (bollo auto) for small and medium-powered vehicles and motorcycles to provide economic relief to families.

Additionally, internal tensions persist within the M5S regarding the use of the party's name and symbol between Beppe Grillo and Giuseppe Conte, and within Rai, where host Antonino Monteleone has criticized board members for their comments regarding the viewership figures of the program ‘Filorosso’.
