Italy political polls: Vannacci’s Futuro Nazionale overtakes Forza Italia

Recent political polling in Italy shows a shifting landscape for the center-right coalition. Roberto Vannacci’s party, Futuro Nazionale, has emerged as a significant new force, surpassing both Forza Italia and Lega to become the fourth largest political party in several surveys, reaching approximately 7.5% to 8% of the vote.

While Fratelli d'Italia remains the leading party with roughly 26.8% to 28.1%, it has seen a slight decline in support. Conversely, the Partito Democratico (PD) has shown growth, rising to approximately 20.7%, narrowing the gap with the governing coalition. The Movimento 5 Stelle (M5S) has experienced a decline, falling to around 12.7%.

The rise of Futuro Nazionale is complicating political calculations regarding electoral laws. Proposals for a potential second-round runoff system are being discussed in the Senate to ensure coalition stability, though the Lega has expressed opposition to such changes. The shifting dynamics suggest a more fragmented political environment heading into future elections.
