Italy approves major port infrastructure and worker support measures

Italy is implementing several significant maritime and infrastructure investments. In the Adriatic Central Port System, approximately 345 million USD has been allocated for the 2027–2029 period, with 245 million USD designated for the Marche region and 100 million USD for Abruzzo. Key projects include dredging operations to accommodate larger vessels, expansions for Fincantieri, and modernizing terminals in Ancona and San Benedetto del Tronto.

The Northern Tyrrhenian Sea Port System Authority has approved a 2027 budget of 129 million euros. This includes 92 million euros from the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy for the Piombino port's West quay, alongside various maintenance and infrastructure projects in Livorno and Elba.

In Taranto, the draft Budget Law includes a 15 million euro allocation to extend income support for over 320 port workers through 2028. This measure aims to provide economic continuity for staff at the Taranto Port Workers Agency during professional requalification processes following long-term employment transitions.
