Atalanta wins Supercoppa Primavera as Serie A highlights top youth talent

Atalanta has won the Supercoppa Primavera 2026/27 after defeating Fiorentina 4-3 in a high-scoring final. Despite Fiorentina's efforts to close the gap late in the match, Atalanta secured the trophy following a decisive penalty and a goal from Cakolli.

In conjunction with the tournament, Lega Serie A and Math & Sport presented a study identifying the 100 best young Italian talents born from 2004 onwards. The list includes players with a market value exceeding one million euros, with 70 currently playing in Italian clubs and 30 abroad. The project aims to help the FIGC monitor potential national team candidates, including those with Italian heritage living outside the country.

During the event, Maurizio Viscidi, coordinator of the Italian youth national teams, expressed concerns regarding the current Under-20 format of the Primavera championship. He argued that clubs often use older players merely to avoid relegation, creating a “talent plug” that hinders younger players. Viscidi suggested a return to an Under-19 format with specific exceptions for late bloomers to better facilitate player development.
