Italian Prime Minister Meloni pledges support for justice witnesses' pension reform
At an event organized by the Fondazione Giovanni Falcone, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni declared the government's full support for justice witnesses, stating that “no witness will be left alone.” She reaffirmed the commitment to approve an amendment that would grant pension‑contribution benefits to witnesses who collaborate with the judiciary.
The National Association of Justice Witnesses, led by President Ignazio Cutrò, thanked the government and the Antimafia Parliamentary Commission, whose president Chiara Colosimo also confirmed the majority's intent to move the legislation forward. The association urged that the promised measures be turned into concrete, timely provisions, noting that the pension‑contribution amendment has been pending for more than 18 years.
