Italian prosecutors link wet handprint to 2007 Garlasco murder

Prosecutors in Pavia say the wet handprint labelled imprint 33, found on the wall of the Garlasco house where Chiara Poggi’s body was discovered, matches suspect Andrea Sempio. The imprint was re‑examined after 19 years and, because it lies directly beneath a blood droplet, investigators consider it evidence that connects Sempio to the 2007 killing.

Defense lawyer Angela Taccia criticised the prosecutor’s recent press release announcing the appointment of forensic psychiatrist Roberto Catanesi. She called the release “dangerous” and “offensive,” arguing that the case should focus on concrete forensic proof rather than public speculation about the suspect’s psychology.
