Italian prosecutors seek prison for businessman in corruption probe
The Ancona District Prosecutor's Office has requested pretrial detention for entrepreneur Andrea Intermesoli in connection with an investigation into the former Corpus Domini convent, known locally as “Le Monachette.” The probe involves alleged corruption related to the sale of the property and the subsequent awarding of renovation contracts.
Intermesoli, 57, holds corporate roles in Avinstas and Mabi, the companies linked to the building. The property in Macerata was purchased by the entrepreneur's family for approximately 2.4 million euros prior to the 2016 earthquake and was later sold to Erdis for 3.3 million euros in 2024. The project aims to convert the site into student housing, supported by 3.9 million euros in public reconstruction funding.
