Italian provinces launch road safety upgrades

Provincial authorities in southern Italy are prioritising road safety and infrastructure renewal. In Benevento, candidate for provincial president Claudio Cataudo pledged a "Strade Sicure 2030" plan that will map road deficiencies digitally, set up permanent maintenance programmes and monitor bridges and landslide risks.

The Province of Barletta‑Andria‑Trani announced concrete works on several key routes. About €60,000 is being spent to replace signage on provincial road 34 (Bisceglie–Ruvo‑Corato), over €740,000 for safety upgrades on road 21 (Salinelle) in Canosa, and more than €5.6 million for the final segment of road 4 (Canosa‑Spinazzola), including modernisation and new guard‑rails. Both provinces stress that the projects aim to protect motorists and improve the reliability of the provincial road network.
