Italian provincial clubs expand women's football programs
Grassroots women's football is seeing significant growth in provincial Italian regions through structured youth development programs.
In Anagni, the Frassati Anagnia project has evolved from a local initiative into a comprehensive youth sector. For the 2026/2027 season, the club is set to participate in FIGC regional and national championships in the Under 15 and Under 17 categories. The initiative, led by Antonio Sambalotti, focuses on bringing football directly to local girls to overcome the geographical barriers often found in smaller provinces.
Similarly, Arsaghese is expanding its women's football presence by launching its first senior team for the 2026/2027 season. The club has built a pipeline that now includes over 120 players, progressing from a football school through competitive youth levels. The new senior squad, managed by Sabrina Pianaro, Paolo Nebuloni, and technical consultant Alessandro Carnaghi, features a mix of young players and experienced athletes from higher divisions.
