Italian provincial roads face neglect and environmental decay

Local groups in Italy are raising alarms regarding the deteriorating state of provincial roads and environmental neglect. In Calabria, the “Rinnovamento Geracese” group has issued a formal complaint to the Metropolitan City administration regarding the SP1 provincial road connecting Locri to Gioia Tauro. The group reports critical issues including roadbed collapses, landslides, and overgrown vegetation that obstructs drainage and limits driver visibility, particularly in the mountainous area between Gerace and Zomaro.

In Sardinia, the “Comitato Suolo Pubblico Bene Comune” has denounced the environmental degradation of the Alghero-Bosa coastal road (SP 105). Despite the route's status as a former UNESCO World Heritage candidate, the committee reports significant littering and waste abandonment, specifically noting issues at the km 2.5 parking area. The group is calling for immediate cleanup efforts and the installation of surveillance systems to prevent further damage to the landscape.
