Italian Quantum Emulation Center develops defense software
Marco Armoni, scientific director of the Italian Quantum Emulation Center, has announced the development of a quantum emulator. This software runs on certified traditional computers to emulate quantum technology, allowing for massive parallelized operations and high-speed problem-solving without moving data.
Speaking at the Ciso Meetup 2026 in Rome, Armoni highlighted the technology's potential for cybersecurity and defense. He demonstrated its capability by simulating a ballistic attack, where the system processed 16 million possible defense scenarios in just 87 milliseconds. This simulation identified an optimal defense protocol with a 98% success rate.
