Radiology professionals in Italy renew collaboration to enhance diagnostic services
Medical professionals in Italy are renewing their collaboration to improve diagnostic imaging services, which account for approximately 70 million exams annually in the country. The initiative, presented in Milan, involves the Società Italiana di Radiologia Medica e Interventistica (SIRM) and the national commission for medical radiology technicians (TSRM).
Leaders from both groups, including SIRM President Nicoletta Gandolfo and TSRM President Carmela Galdieri, emphasized that the partnership is essential for managing rapid technological advancements. The integration of new software, advanced imaging devices, and artificial intelligence requires updated organizational models, shared clinical guidelines, and continuous professional training to ensure patient safety and service quality.
The collaboration aims to bridge the gap between medical doctors and technicians through shared scientific and organizational goals. This includes addressing the challenges of digitalization and teleradiology, ensuring that even when professionals are physically distant, they remain part of a unified diagnostic pathway.
