Italian universities rise in Censis 2026/2027 rankings

Several Italian universities improved their positions in the Censis university rankings for 2026‑2027. The Campus Bio‑Medico University of Rome moved up to second place among small non‑state institutions, raising its overall score from 86.8 to 92.4 and gaining top marks for scholarships, facilities and digital services.

The University of Foggia secured second place in the engineering and information technology category, prompting regional officials to call for the creation of a dedicated engineering department to build on the achievement. The University of Insubria ranked second nationally for graduate employability and first in Lombardy, reflecting strong links with the labour market.

The University of Sannio (Unisannio) was praised for its progress in graduate employability and internationalisation, while the University of Calabria (Unical) topped large state universities for scholarships and student services but recorded the lowest employability score among Italian institutions since 2019.
